Sorry folks, this is where I draw the line. You will find no information about sake-tinis or any other such silly monstrosities on this site.
I am not trying to be the "sake nazi" here; I am all for enjoyment. If you like something, drink it. But accept that by mixing sake with any fruity
or nutty flavoring, or any other liquor or mixer, you cannot taste the sake. End of story. Full stop.
Again, if you like such cocktails, fine. Enjoy them. But I cannot support or promote them.
Now, I don't want to get off on a rant here, but I am making great efforts to promote sake as the fine beverage it is. Fine sake is as
fine as the best wines, and with easily just as much culture, history and fascinating anecdotal stories. To promote mixing it and covering up its essence would defeat my stated purpose.
Would you mix a fine wine with juice or vodka or anything? Then why mix sake? Some say that sake cocktails or flavored sake (or
infused sake, whatever!) lead people later to better sake. I say: nonsense. Does one come to appreciate fine wine through wine coolers? I think not.
So, drink flavored sake and sake cocktails if you enjoy them. It is, in the
end, all about enjoyment. But you will be missing out on the real thing, missing out on truly fine sake, missing out on learning more about an ancient craft and culture.
If you have come to this page, you owe it to yourself to try the real thing!
